A Valentine gift from The Biennial Project that doesn’t require lube…

by the-biennial-project 14. February 2014 11:45

So, if you are like us you didn't get a dozen red roses or a 5 carat diamond this Saint Valentine's Day.

clip_image002

We didn't even get a crappy little bear holding a heart.

clip_image004

Like us you might have also gained 10lbs from all the cheap chocolate and candy hearts that people have been bringing into the studio.

clip_image006

Maybe you even made an attempt to go out for a romantic dinner only to have to wait for a table and eat cold pasta in an overcrowded, overpriced restaurant

clip_image007

only to be requested by your love to perform anal sex when you got home.

clip_image008

Well, we here at the Biennial Project are here to save your St. Valentine Day this year.

We have decided to extend, by two weeks, the deadline for The Biennial Roadshow Marfa!!

Aren't we wonderful!!!

clip_image010

In case you have been living under a rock and have no idea what The Biennial Roadshow Marfa is, let us explain.

The Biennial Roadshow Marfa is an open call to artists worldwide to enter and possibly be selected to show in our online juried competition, and screen in our digital presentation at our Hoodang and Gala reception in Marfa, Texas this April!!

The new and improved FINAL deadline is now March 1st, 2014, MIDNIGHT.

We also highlight in blogs and facebook posts some of the work entered before the we jury the entries, so the earlier you get your work in the more likely we will show it off.

So get your ass in the saddle and enter the Biennial Roadshow Marfa by March 1, 2014.

COWBOY UP!

Did we mention we are open to butt fucking?

Come All Ye Faithful

by the-biennial-project 23. December 2012 09:04

Sometime living as an artist makes you feel like you live on the Island of Misfit Toys.

island of misfit toys2 (2)

We especially can feel this over the holidays when we are forced to co-mingle with our families - who don't quite understand why we do the things we do, and why we don't have much money to show for it.

Well for those of us creatives who either did not go to their families of birth this holiday or simply forgot to make plans, The Biennial Project is inviting you to celebrate this blessed holiday with us.

Please join The Biennial Project at The Boston Biennial 2012 exhibit being held at The Gallery at Spencer Lofts at 60 Dudley Street in Chelsea, MA on Christmas Day (that’s December 25th) from 3pm-5pm.

Come and drink the milk and eat the cookies Santa didn't get to because he choose not to visit you this year either because you behaved poorly (yes you are a drunken tramp) or simply because he doesn't exist.

Fan of the Month July 2012

by the-biennial-project 8. July 2012 17:23

This month’s Fan of the Month is one of the coolest artists around – Kelly Jo Shows. She’s really just too amazing, and if she weren’t also so super nice we would be kinda jealous of her. OK, we admit, we are still jealous of her, but in a good way.

She lives in one of The Biennial Project’s Favorite Towns – Kennebunk Maine (a frequent vacation spot for creative types like us), and she has the house and studio of our dreams. It’s totally gorgeous, and chock full of her awesome artwork. And she has rabbits! And ducks!

She has this cool series of paintings called “Sole of the Artist". Here’s how she describes them: “This is a unique and untraditional collection of portraits. Rather than focusing on the face of the artist, I'm painting different scale images of their shoes. Shoes tell a lot about a person and they speak volumes about the lives we lead. They develop a character over the years & become a visual roadmap to the experiences you have had and the places you have traveled. I'm interested in capturing that character.”

She’s painted lots of interesting artist’s shoes – including some really famous ones! (Not that things like that matter to us here at Biennial Project Productions, but if they did, how about Ed Ruscha and William Wegman for starters?) And, you guessed it, The Biennial Project is proud to be counted among the soles that Kelly Jo has collected! Check out the BEAUTIFUL painting at the lower left – or BETTER YET, meet Kelly Jo and see this gorgeous paintingat the upcoming Bizarre Artist Happenings presented by The Biennial Project opening July 19th at Atlantic Works Gallery!

Here’s to you Kelly Jo –

ridiculously talented artist,

super cool person,

animal lover,

and Biennial Project Fan!

And don’t forget to come to The Show of the Season!

Wham! Bam! Thank you, ma'am!

by the-biennial-project 16. March 2012 09:30

Wham! Bam! Thank you, ma'am!

image_thumb1

Renowned practically-British artist (and Director of The Biennial Project Film Institute) Tom Estes agreed to create a documentary with the aim of recording a discrete and tasteful experiment in art making - only to find much more than he bargained for!

Trapped in a no-man's land of depravity and subjected to a relentless cast of "the weird and the pathetic, the ugly, the obscene and the beautiful" this delightfully dubious low budget documentary frequently pushes the limits of the format.

After the glamour of the 2012 Whitney Biennial and the double-whammy of collateral events one might think it was time to go home, put your feet up and have a nice cup a tea... but no!

Boston Socialite, Art World Insider and Windsor- Whitney Biennial curator- Anna Salmeron, pitches herself, body and soul, into the squalid decadence of the New York art scene in an attempt to pep up her flagging art career. But can she escape this secret life she has chosen, or will it destroy her forever?

This short excerpt, offers an instant soft-core art classic - an erotically-charged trip through a virtual alphabet of deviant sexual pleasure, and a who's who of insider art world dealings.

Bonus Features: Also stars one of the the depraved minds behind The Biennial Project and fellow Windsor - Whitney Biennial curator - Eric Hess, who seems to get what he wants by wielding some sort of odd control over his more normal looking co-workers. Hess works his demented way through the back alleys of the big cities to the savage cruelty of the suburbs- gorging himself in an ultra-sleazy, full-frontal journey.

Pre-orders are available now at www.TomEstes.info

WARNING This video clip includes relentless nudity, socio-cultural blathering and interpretive dance that some viewers may find offensive!

the newspaper said what ya doing in bed?

There BUTT for the grace of god - a tale of Biennial Project Daring Do

by the-biennial-project 29. October 2011 15:45

As International Art Rock Stars, Biennial Project Members live large.  We dream large, we think large, we create large, and, of course, we vacation large.  Never content to rest on our considerable laurels, Biennial Project Members are always out there living on the edge - trying new and exciting activities. seeking thrills, testing the limits of our body’s endurance - driven by an unquenchable thirst for new experience. Thus, one recent idyllic summer afternoon, when reason might have told us to remain in the hammock reading The Enquirer, we instead took up the considerable challenge of Rope Swinging.  At first all went well.  There was, after all, no need to be afraid -

The first plunge – an entrancing mix of grace and athleticism -

The second plunge – from even more fearsome heights -

Then, as it often does with those cursed with the need to ignore those voices that tell you when enough is enough, tragedy struck!

The results, documented fearlessly below, would have been enough to send any mere mortal running screaming to the refuge of the nearest ER!

  cotpbutt1

But not someone born to that Band of Fratricidal Siblings known to the world as The Biennial Project! Oh We Few, We Happy Few! We know an opportunity for self promoting heroism when we see it!  As Shakespeare put it (paraphrased and shortened a little of course – we don’t have all day, and that Old English thing gets irritating) -

If we are marked to die, we are now
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is named,
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
    But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
   Anna, Eric, Laura-
Be in their flowing cups freshly remembered.
    This story shall the good man teach his son;
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
    And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
    And hold their manhoods cheap,

etc, etc, more stuff about problems in England or France or something, you get the idea.

The point is that we are brave, really brave, and so instead of going to the hospital,

buttblog5

We took pictures! Lots of pictures!  Brave, heroic pictures!  Talk about your Triumph over Adversity!

buttblg3

We see a lifetime movie coming out of this!

Yours in Heroism,

THE BIENNIAL PROJECT
