Truth be told, the first Boston Biennial started out as something of a lark.
You know, Boston doesn't really have a biennial yet, and we are The Biennial Project after all, so why not bypass the accepted (and generally Boston-artist-hating) critical establishment here and host a big fat group show and call it the Boston Biennial.
Well, turns out it the thing was a rip-roaring good time and drew together lots of really good art being made in these parts and beyond.
So we've had at it a few more times since that first Boston Biennial (not precisely every two years though, that would be so predictable). With each incarnation the show has grown ever bigger and better.
With Boston Biennial 4 that trend continues - as we have had the difficult but exciting task of selecting from more than 1100 entries (from 28 states and 23 countries) to present to you our biggest and most wondrous show yet.
Feast your eyes (and hearts and souls) on all this truly wonderful work!
